Students' Programs
Research Project Presentation  
Students shall work together on a research project on the theme of the Environment and Energy, and present the results.
  • Each team should consist of 2 high school students. All data and presentations are to be prepared in English.
  • No preliminary round for participating teams from high schools outside of Korea.
  • A preliminary round will be conducted to select about 10 teams each from the Korean high school group and KSA.
  • Project results will be presented through poster and oral presentations. Sessions will be organized according to sub-theme.
    1. Instructions for the preparation of oral presentations
      Oral Presentation is composed of 15 minutes presentation and 5 minute Q&A.
      If using PowerPoint presentation, please note you need to bring it on a Memory stick (using the USB port in the computer). You may supply your own laptop computer as a back-up.
      Please note that the computers in the session halls are being supplied with Windows XP and Office 2007.
    2. Instructions for the preparation for Poster presentation
      Please note the following information for the preparation of your poster:
      Please prepare your poster to fit the dimensions below.
      The dimensions of the poster should not exceed 90 cm wide x 120 cm high.
      Allocate the top of the poster for the title and authors as stated on the submitted abstract.
      The text, illustrations, etc. should be bold enough to be read from a distance of two meters.
      Tacks and technical equipment will be available for the mounting of posters.
      Please refer to the Final Program for the poster number assigned to you.
      Please use the board with the same number.
  • Presentation sessions will encourage active discussion and expose students to various research models.
  • Each presentation will be judged by two international jury. The best presentation will be awarded.
  • Please submit one registration form for each team; submissions are encouraged to be made by the contact person.
Scientific Inquiry Activity
Students, who have successfully completed the research project, shall engage in scientific inquiries on a given theme.

  • Theme: Earth, Environment and Energy (EEE)
  • Students will be assigned to teams of 4~5 members during registration. Each team will consist of 2 international students and 2~3 local students.
  • Student teams will attempt to resolve challenging issues related to the environment and energy. Students should come up with specific solutions through data collection and scientific inquiries.
  • Students will listen to instructions given by the teacher-in-charge and carry out activities in a theme-related location (Student assistants who have received prior training will help to activities).
  • Students are to prepare research notes for submission.
  • The teacher-in-charge will evaluate the inquiry process, research notes, and presentation of results. An outstanding team from each sub-theme will receive souvenirs.
Other Programs
  • Field Trip & Busan City Tour
    - Engage in a hands-on experience of environmental activities related to the theme of the Environment and Energy
    - Visit attractions in Busan

  • Special Lectures by Renowned Scientists

  • Opening & Farewell Ceremony
    - The opening ceremony will be attended by participants of the elementary and middle school programs. Students will have the chance to introduce themselves and experience diverse cultures.
